The »found nudity« series came into being by randomly browsing flea markets. Once I came along a booth selling Super-8-cine-films. I opened the boxes curious what kind of magic these rolls may hold. Looking through the slides by holding them to the sky, I wanted to draw the secret from the frames. Unfortunately I couldn’t see that much, but I was fascinated by the intriguing colourfulness. Now I wanted to have a closer look. So, I auctioned an pre-owned Super-8-projector from eBay and projected these films against a wall in my studio.
After displaying the first frames, the projector transformed into a time machine. Seeing the films blown up, I realised that they were porn films from the 1970s. The years when pornography started to become mainstream. The time of porno chic. The time when morals were defined anew. The look and the colour change due to the ageing process of the film material was fascinating. All that inspired me to transmit the films into my visual language. In exact the same way I photograph my »out of focus« series: authentic and precisely planned in full frame.
